This here is a typical Dutch recipe from the early fifties.  
These recipes always feature very cheap ingredients and you can tell someone really tried her best to pimp this soup by adding something fancy. 
In this case  it's the 75 gram of cheese (which is also relatively cheap here in Holland).
I don't know why they call it cheese soup, it's more a turnip/potato soup with some melted cheese. 
Oh well. It's very nutritious, tasty and cheap. Just who I like my men, i mean soup.
