Yanardag on fire

Yanardag is a hill on Apsheron peninsular, not far from the capital of Azerbaijan.
Yanarday means 'burning mountain' and this hill really is burning, spurts of flames appear on the ground and stones.
Even in bad weather like rain and snow the hill is burning due to the gas that's escaping from the depth of the earth.
In ancient days there would have been a lot of place like this.
According to scientist gas and oil are so close to the surface that it catches fire.
