This here is a typical Dutch recipe from the early fifties.  

These recipes always feature very cheap ingredients and you can tell someone really tried her best to pimp this soup by adding something fancy. 

In this case  it's the 75 gram of cheese (which is also relatively cheap here in Holland).

I don't know why they call it cheese soup, it's more a turnip/potato soup with some melted cheese. 

Oh well. It's very nutritious, tasty and cheap. Just who I like my men, i mean soup.

Dutch recipe for Stromboli

Nodig voor het deeg:

200 ml water
350 g bloem
2 tl suiker
1 tl zout
1 tl gist

Nodig voor de vulling:175 g mozzarella (stukjes)
75 g parmezaanse kaas (geraspt)
1 el peterselie (gehakt)
1 el basilicum (gehakt)
1 el versgemalen zwarte peper
1 knoflookteen (fijngesneden)

Oven voorverwarmen op 200ºC.
Meng alle ingrediënten voor het deeg door elkaar. Laat op een warme plaats (of in de broodbakmachine) een uur rijzen. Rol uit tot een vierkante lap en laat 5 minuten rusten.
Meng alle ingrediënten voor de vulling door elkaar en spreid uit over het deeg. Rol het deeg op en leg het op de bakplaat. Doe er plasticfolie overheen en laat opnieuw een half uur rijzen. Prik het deeg een paar keer in met een satéprikker.
Zet 30-35 minuten in de oven. Laat even afkoelen en snij dan in dikke plakken
